Happy Birthday! - Red Sox World Champs?
Wednesday, October 27, 2004
Today I am hoping my wish from last year comes true. In the wake of last year’s game 7 loss to the Yankees I wrote, “if we are lucky we can win it all on his [my son Evan’s] first birthday.”
Evan’s delivery was planned—a scheduled c-section. We had the option of October 27th, or having a devil baby scheduled for delivery on October 31st. A Halloween birthday would have been cool, but I knew the Sox wouldn’t take to this to seven games. Actually I didn’t know the playoff schedule to even know when game 7 would be, so it is more in line with the devil baby theory.
I cannot believe we are in the World Series. I cannot believe we are up 3 - 0 in the series. I cannot believe I have been allowed to watch stress free Red Sox baseball over the past two nights. I haven’t had to change the channel to avoid watching a meltdown. This isn’t real.
I believe, but I cannot believe that I believe.
I agree it?s all too weird. I keep thinking that the sox are going to find an all new low. Some way to lift me to elation, only to make the harsh reality of cement in the face hurt all that more.
You can say I am a believer in the history, knowing that someday things may be different.
But I cannot believe that someday may be tonight/tomorrow!
I too haven’t had the need for my “survival kit” since game seven of the ALCS.
BTW. Isint it funny how the Cardinals fans have no clue how to heckle the sox. I mean were used to the Pro’s [Yankees] these guys are just pathetic.
I think at one point I saw a sign that read “Red Sox Stink like Feet”
Thats just weak.

I know it was raining, and I know the Suppan blunder was a killer ... but c’mon. That was like a Braves crowd without the tomahawk chant. Not an impressive night for the alleged best fans in the National League. They know they’re allowed to still make noise when their team falls behind, right?”
